About
Karina Scalisi is a photographer based in Westchester, NY, with a BFA in Photography from SUNY New Paltz (2026). Her practice moves between digital and analog processes, drawn to the distinct features that each medium demands.
At the heart of her work is self-portraiture — an ongoing exploration of mental health and body image. Through personal imagery, she examines the ideas of vulnerability, identity, and the complexity of living in a body.
Beyond her personal practice, she photographs the world around her. She has photographed graduations, exhibitions, and dress rehearsals. She has also increasingly been drawn to documentary and commercial work, where storytelling and authenticity intersect.
When not behind the camera, Karina works in printmaking and ceramics, mediums that share her love of process, material, and the mark left by hand.
