Since I was a little girl, I felt that to be beautiful I had to be skinny and perfect. I watched loved ones cover their insecurities with clothing, and I listened to them talk negatively about their appearance. Although I was never criticized, I internalized their beliefs.
My work explores the feelings of uncertainty and discomfort in my body. Exposing and photographing my body as it is, is an act of defiance, confronting societal judgments.
I work with clay as a material from earth and photograph myself in nature, striving to connect with powerful ancient matriarchal lines.
